Airdrie Academy

Airdrie Academy is a secondary school within Airdrie, North Lanarkshire, Scotland. It has a current roll of approximately 1,200 pupils. As part of Education 2010, a new building was opened in October 2006 to replace the previous one, which had been in use for almost 100 years.
The current head teacher is Mr. Hugh McCallum. He is supported by a Senior Management Team comprising of: Mr. John Johnston, Senior Depute, Mr. George McGuffie, Depute, Mr. Robert Reid, Depute, Mrs. Alice Brown, Depute and Mr. John Kerr, Depute.
[edit] Teaching Staff
Airdrie Academy has many good members of teaching staff. This was acknowledged in June 2006 when Mr. Allan Dougan, Teacher of Mathematics was Awarded Scottish Teacher of the Year runner up at the Scottish Education Awards held at Glasgow Hilton in June 2006 after being nominated by pupil, Shona Renicks. A great acolade for Mr. Dougan and all teaching staff at Airdrie Academy.

Airdrie Academy was part of a bomb threat in World War II.
Part of the Old Building was set on fire in December 2006.
