The AirPort Utility is a utility that serves to allow the user to configure an AirPort Wi-Fi Base Station to create a wireless network. It is built in to Mac OS X and is available for download for Windows XP.

It was formerly called AirPort Admin Utility (included with the dome-shaped AirPort Extreme) and is now called AirPort Utility for installations of Mac OS X 10.4 that have installed the AirPort Utility software that came with the newest iteration of the AirPort Extreme (the flat square shaped model), and all installations of Mac OS X 10.5). The AirPort Admin Utility has been superseded by AirPort Utility. Older AirPort Graphite and AirPort Snow base stations must use the Airport Admin Utility (subsequently renamed to Airport Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow), whereas the first generation AirPort Extreme and AirPort Express can use either one, but the second generation AirPort Extreme works only with AirPort Utility.
