Ahn sang-hong (died 1985) founded the World Mission Society Church of God (in Korean, 하나님의교회 세계복음선교협회). He was born in South Korea to Buddhist parents.
According to the Church of God, he joined the Seventh-day Adventist Church in 1947. He renounced Buddhism and was baptized in 1948. He created the World Mission Society Church of God in 1964.
Regarded by his followers as the second coming Christ, Ahn sang-hong is also the author of several books[citation needed], including Visitors from the Angelic World, The Seal of God and the last plagues, etc. Throughout the 35 chapters of one book, The Mystery of God and The Spring of The Water of Life, Ahn sang-hong testifies about the coming of what the church refers to as the "Mother God".[citation needed]
Ahn sang-hong made a number of predictions in his early books, the most prominent two being his 1967 and 1988 predictions for the Second Coming of Christ. The World Mission Society Church of God claims that Ahn sang-hong was the second coming of Jesus, despite his death three years before his prediction of Jesus' return. Those outside the church, familiar with the sect, consider Ahn sang-hong a Heresiarch.[1]
