Ahmad Khomeini
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Ahmad Khomeini (1945 , Qom - March , 1995 , Tehran), was the younger son of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.
Ahmad Khomeini was close to his father, the leader of the Iranian revolution of 1979. He helped coordinate affairs during and after the Islamic Revolution, in Khomeini's office in Paris and subsequent to the ayatollah's return to Iran in February 1979.[1] If one can believe the confessions of intelligence operative Saeed Emami as handed down by one-time Ansar-e Hezbollah member Amir Farshad Ebrahimi, Ahmad Khomeini was eliminated in 1995 after a group of highly-placed officials decided that his enmity towards one-time ally Ali Khamenei put him beyond the pale of mercy. These men included current Intelligence Minister Gholamhosein Mohseni-Ejeh'i, Ali Fallahian, Ayatollah Mohammad Taghi Mesbah Yazdi, and Asadollah Badamchian.[2] Official reports gave the cause of death as heart failure, but it is alleged that the medication he took for diabetes and other conditions had been tampered with. Ahmad Khomeini is entombed next to his father in a grand shrine south of Tehran, where his son, Hasan Khomeini, is the custodian.
