[edit] Origin
The Agua Rosada kanda was founded by Alvaro X along with his brother Pedro IV. Their father was a Kimpanzu nobleman while their mother was a Kinlaza. The father was betrayed by his Kimpanzu kinsmen and murdered, forcing the mother to take her children to Kibangu under the protection of the Kinlaza.
[edit] Reign over Kibangu
After serving as partisans of the Kinlaza, the Agua Rosada brothers attempted to wrest power from King Manuel 1686. The attempt failed, and they retreating to the Mbidizi valley. Three years later, they marched on Kibangu forcing Manuel into exile among the da Silvas of Soyo.
[edit] Reunification of Kongo
When Alvaro X died in 1695, he was succeeded by his brother Pedro IV. King Pedro IV worked vigorously to put Kongo back together. After the repopulation of the abandoned capital by Dona Beatriz and her Antonian followers, he was able to take the capital in the Battle of Sao Salvador and reestablish Kongo as a centralized though weakened state.
