[edit] History

[edit] Origins

Agnitio was founded in 2004 as a spin-off from the Biometrics Recognition Group (ATVS) at the Technical University of Madrid [1]. Success in the homeland security business allowed the company to sustain a constant growth and become the current leader in this field. Their products are used by police departments in more than 20 countries across Europe, Asia and the Americas [2].

[edit] Current expansion

The successful trajectory of the company has recently attracted venture capital funding. Funds attracted are used to expand Agnitio's technological capabilities and secure a leadership position in the corporate sector. The company expects an important growth in this space, as voice biometrics offers some clear advantages over other technologies: its less intrusiveness is ideal for remote speaker verification with no new hardware or software requirements on the end-user side. A simple cell phone[3] is sufficient. This makes voice biometrics a very promising technology for phone and on-line banking, as well as many other corporate voice applications and security needs. Voice biometrics for automated password reset procedures, presence monitoring, time and attendance, call center user verification and verification based on free speech are some examples of where corporate organizations are now investing in. KIVOX is the brand-name used by Agnitio to market its technology for the corporate sector.

[edit] Technology

Agnitio develops both speaker recognition and speaker verification solutions (see Verification vs. identification) for text-dependent and text-independent applications. Technology developed by Agnitio is based on the NIST-evaluated [4], [5] ATVS biometrics technology transferred to the company on its creation. Nowadays, Agnitio features its own independent Research and Development department while maintaining a close collaboration with the ATVS and other research institutes in different countries.
