[edit] Introduction

I have been an occasional contributor to Wikipedia since January 2004. I am a member of the Biography WikiProject and Anglicanism Wikiproject, as well as the groups of Wikipedians interested in Denmark and Wikipedians interested in Scotland.

[edit] My main interests

My interests are many and various. Although not a linguist, I am interested in languages, particularly the development of English from Old Danish and the dialects associated with the Lowland languages. I'm also interested in Genealogy and Family history, particularly of the Porteous family and its members, the History of Scotland and Scottish families, and their Emigration to Canada and the USA.

Other interests are the various forms of Evangelical Christianity, the Abolition of Slavery, the history of newspapers and other publications, as well as Typography, Graphic design, and Archaeology.

I am currently attempting to write a biography of Beilby Porteus, Bishop of London, especially regarding his involvement in the campaign against the British Slave trade.

[edit] Location

Based in North Norfolk, England, I am an adopted East Anglian and am interested especially in the Local history and Archaeology of Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex, although my fascination spreads also to the language, culture and people of Denmark. I enjoy Film and the music of Arcade Fire, Bryan Ferry, Simon and Garfunkel, Aimee Mann, Enya, Pink Martini, Bryan Adams, Bob Dylan and Björk.
