[edit] Expansion of Agent/Principal Relationship Discussion

It would be nice to have a discussion of which agent/principal relationships are regulated by law.

The question demonstrates that you do not understand a great deal about law. For the law to apply, the court must first find that the relationship of principal and agent exists. Only then can the law regulate the relationship. There are no specific relationships nominated for this purpose. It is the function of one person representing the interests of another that is significant. David91 12:34, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Agency is not necessarily commercial

This article and Agent (law) are both too closely bound to the notion of agency in the commercial context. Agency law also applies in public law as well, at least in the United States; all government employees act as agents of their respective department head and through them, as agents of the sovereign people. When I have the time I will research and revise this mess, though anyone else who knows more about this is welcome to do so first. --Coolcaesar 20:37, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

apparently two years later, this article still only deals with the small facet of commerical law in the law of agency. Chapter 6 of the Restatement Third of Agency deals with contracts with third parties. Legis Nuntius (talk) 06:45, 8 January 2008 (UTC)
