Talk:Afzalsho Shodiev
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The article says: he is a popular singer. So, it asserts some kind of notability. If you disagree, or you think the notability should be proven, go to AfD. The criteria for the speedy deletion says: "If the assertion is likely to be controversial or there has been a previous AfD, the article should be nominated for AfD instead." -- Jahangard 02:53, 28 February 2007 (UTC)

- The only source I found about him is a desription of a video on youtube and the same description on other video sites.--Balloonguy 21:24, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

- If you disagree with the claim about his popularity, you should go to AfD. About the search results, you should consider two important issues:
-
- In this case, you should search over Tajik texts, not English.
- You can not use the same google-based criteria for the popularity in rich and poor countries. Shodiev is a popular singer in Tajikistan (a country with 7.3 million population which is almost twice bigger than Ireland). However, their GDP per capita is less than 1% of the Irish. There were only 5000 internet users in Tajikistan in 2005 [1] (compared to more than 2 millions in Ireland). I think the popularity criteria of a singer should be based on the number of his/her fans, not the wealth of them. Jahangard 21:45, 1 March 2007 (UTC)

- Agreed. We need to find a Tajik speaker to help us with this. --Lendorien 17:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
