[edit] Merge

The spiny squirrel article contains a bit of 1911 text concerning members of the genera Xeres and Atlantoxeres. I'm not convinced that there's needs to be an article combining these two genera. A separate article for each seems adequate. If there were such an article I think "African ground squirrel" would be the better name. --Aranae 06:16, September 5, 2005 (UTC)

After over a month waiting to be merged, I modified spiny squirrel to represent the tribe Xerini since that seems to be what's covered. Within a few minutes of my doing so someone did merge the articles (though s/he just placed both taxoboxes on this page). I'm reverting that change. 1911 entries are almost unintelligible sometimes. If anyone wants to debate this further (beyond me debating myself a month apart), please let me know. I'm not particularly attached to the current arrangement. --Aranae 06:02, 11 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Disambiguation

A Google search on Xerus, the first result is an XCOR spacecraft design, not a rodent. disambig?

Sounds reasonable. They are pretty much even. --Aranae 02:34, 16 August 2006 (UTC)
