• I have to agree that this category probably should not exist. Are we going to start creating categories for white sportspeople, asian sportspeople, etc? And if so, how would you categorize mixed-race athletes such as Tiger Woods? Secondly, I am not even sure "African American" is even the proper term as many of the listed athletes heritage is actually from European or Island nations (with links to Africa being an incorrect generalization), so if anything perhaps it should be "Black sportspeople". Again, I think it is unnecessary and racist - we are all one...Americans ARE Americans, no matter the racial heritage! Now, there is one subcategory of this section that should probably exist and that is the Negro League baseball players as that is a league category and not particularly racial in context (many Hispanic players played in the league...so again being in an African American category is probably inappropriate). --otduff ^t/_c 10:54, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Seriously. A "Caucasian sportspeople" category would be idiotic. Some sports are the majority black anyway, so why is this necessary?►Chris Nelson^Holla! 16:24, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

Definitely, this category should be deleted. I agree with what otduff said in his above comment. This category points out who the black sportspeople are and in my opinion it is racist to point out certain people like that -Street20 17:40, 23 November 2007 (UTC)
