Hi,

I don't want to discourage you from contributing, but I felt your recent edit to Global Warming was of dubious worth (In fact, I just saw that someone reverted it). If you don't mind, I'll point out a few concerns with the paragraph you inserted:

could possibly is tautological. Could implies possibly, so you don't need both.

This system of currents transports heat around the world;

I guess we're talking about the Gulf Stream? That specifically carries warm water from the Gulf of Mexico to the North Atlantic, so around the world is pushing it a bit.

it moderates the temperature at the equator as well as in areas such as the british islands

british islands? I guess you mean British Isles (note capitalisation and spelling). Also, such as implies a throwaway example. The GS is far more important than that to the climate of the British Isles.

(which is why palm trees can grow on the Irish coast).

Very tangential anecdote. We started on GW, got carried onto the GS, now we've got palm trees in Ireland.

If this conveyor belt slowed or stopped it would cause widespread changes in temperature and weather patterns; Europe would be much colder and areas around the equator warmer

This is OK - you could mention that stopping the conveyor probably caused the Younger Dryas, 11Ky ago.

You are right about the grammatical mistakes, give me time. However, when I said "carries warm and cold water around the world", that is correct; the thermohaline circulation carries water not only from the North to South Atlantic, but through the other oceans (excluding the Arctic) as well (google images has diagrams of the currents).
