I don't think it is correct to state that an ASN is something that is germaine only to GM. An ASN is used by most any business transacting via EDI. A better reference would be to link this to the ANSI EDI-856 document - the originator of the ASN.

I agree. This article is inaccurate for many reasons, starting with the mistaken spelling of Advance Ship Notice, and is misclassified as being specific to the automotive industry. Deviantgoods 19:56, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
