Adnan Polat

Adnan Polat (born 1953), Commendatore OMRI [1], is a Turkish businessman born in Erzurum, a city in eastern Turkey.[2] He is currently the President of the Turkish sports club Galatasaray.
After graduating from high school in 1976, he continued study in USA at Long Island University, on business administration. He then returned to Turkey and started in the construction business. After 1981, he joined Ege Ceramics and worked as CEO for 10 years. He is currently the President of Turkish Ceramics Federation. [3]
In 1999, Polat was a candidate for Mayor of İstanbul, but did not win.
He has been married since 1980 and has two children. Because of his investments in different countries, Polat has been honorary consul of Thailand since 1997 and was awarded with Italian order of merit in 2007.
Polat was vice presedent of Galatasaray S.K. between 1992 - 1996 under the presidency of Alp Yalman. He also served as vice president under the presidency of Özhan Canaydın. [4]
In March 2008 Polat replaced Canaydin to become the 33rd President of Galatasaray SK, winning the club congress's election by a wide margin.
