Adam Aijala (born 1973 in Worcester, Massachusetts[1]) is an American guitarist and singer for the Yonder Mountain String Band.

Aijala grew up in Sterling, Massachusetts, and first started playing the electric guitar when he was 13. His musical tastes early in life included punk rock and heavy metal, but shifted to bands such as Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, and the Grateful Dead when he began high school. Aijala, influenced by bands and musicians like Old and in the Way and Bob Dylan, started playing the acoustic guitar when he was 17.

During his college years at the University of Massachusetts, he studied and graduated with a BS degree in Forestry.[1] Had it not been for an accident on the job, Aijala would have continued to have been a forester to this day. Falling back on his old love, Aijala moved to Nederland, Colorado, and started to play music more frequently. He later met both Dave Johnston and Jeff Austin at a club known as the Verge, accompanied with Ben Kaufmann.[2]
