Adam (Scottish family)

The Scottish Adam family is famous primarily for neoclassical architects William and Robert Adam, although there are several notable family members.
- William Adam (1689–1748), Scottish architect and builder, born near Kirkcaldy, Fife, Scotland.
- John Adam (5 March 1721–25 June 1792), born near Kirkcaldy, eldest son of William. Architect and builder.
- Robert Adam (3 July 1728–3 March 1792), born near Kirkcaldy, second son of William. Architect, interior designer and furniture designer, and originator of the "Adam style".
- James Adam (architect) (21 July 1732–20 October 1794), born near Kirkcaldy, third son of William. Architect, and furniture designer, and business partner of Robert.
- William Adam (2 August 1751–17 February 1839), only son of John Adam, Member of Parliament and judge.
- Charles Adam (6 October 1780–19 September 1853), second son of William Adam (1751–1839), British naval officer.
- Frederick Adam (17 June 1784–17 August 1853), fourth son of William Adam (1751–1839), General in the British Army, Governor of Madras 1832–37.
