[edit] Demise

Action was originally operated exclusively in Western Australia by Foodland Associated Limited, which also operated the Supa Valu, Dewsons and Dewsons Express supermarkets. FAL was later sold to rivals Metcash (Australian licensee of the international IGA brand) and Woolworths in late 2005.

In March 2006, Metcash announced that it will convert most of the remaining Action supermarkets into IGA-branded stores, however some Action branded stores remain in Brisbane (including stores at Westfield Carindale [1] and Westfield Strathpine [2] due to there being Woolworths Supermarkets in these centres as well as Action.
