RPlan is a Enterprise Project Management software developed by Actano GmbH, a German based software and project management consulting company. RPlan is based on a methodology called collaborative project management which is specially suited to support complex and long running projects with distributed teams, like developing a new car or aircraft. Extensive project schedules are broken down into many individual compact schedules, each of which is the direct responsibility of the schedule owner. Fractal schedules can be linked in various ways. Communication and cooperation is the backbone of the methodology. RPlan is used by major automotive OEM's and aerospace companies because of the methodology of collaborative project management.
Actano RPlan is a webbased solution using a mixture of HTML based modules and java applets running on multiple server platforms like Windows, Linux and Solaris
RPlan modules include schedule management, resource management, time recording, project controlling, reporting, presentation graphics, portfolio management.
RPlan can be integrated with ERP tools like SAP and others; with PDM tools like Siemens TeamCenter or Parametric Windchill; with other third party software tools; and with proprietary in-house tools. Actano History The company was founded in 1989 in Munich, Germany providing Project Management consulting and the implementation of software tools including Microsoft Project. In 1995, the first version of the project management software RPlan was released. The first Java version of RPLan was issued in 1998. The Cross Company Planning module was added in 2003, followed by an Offline Client module in 2005. A North American division, Actano, Inc., was established in 2006, in Troy, MI. Also in 2006, SAP announced RPlan as the first PM solution certified for NetWeaver. The Project Controller module was released with RPLan version 9.0 in 2007. [1]
