It's the "Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields" not the "Academy of St. Martin in the Fields"
The Academy derives it's name from the convention used by man 18th-century concert giving societies, such as the Academy of Ancient Music and the Royal Academy of of Music. The St. Martin-in-the-Fields comes from the name of the place where they gave their first concerts and were oroginally based out of - the St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church in London.
