This article, as I found it, contained signficant errors. I hope that I have removed these without being guity of vandalism. I disagree with the views expresed by Hyde (whose work I have included in 'further reading') on then reasons for the slow adoption of coke pig iron by forges. That work is still unpublished and thus cannot be referred to here, but it does not affect this article. Conversely, I am convinced that Hyde's case regarding the choice of fuel in the blast furnace is substantially correct. Peterkingiron 21:27, 8 April 2006 (UTC)
