Abraham David Sofaer

Abraham David Sofaer (b. 1938, Bombay, India) was a federal judge for the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York. Judge Sofaer received a B.A. from Yeshiva University in 1962 and an LL.B. from New York University School of Law in 1965. He was nominated to the court by Jimmy Carter on January 19, 1979, to a seat vacated by Marvin E. Frankel, confirmed by the Senate on March 21, 1979, and received his commission on March 23, 1979. His service terminated on June 9, 1985, due to resignation.
