Abolhassan Najafi

Abolhassan Najafi , born 1929 in Isfahan, is an Iranian writer and translator.

Najafi began his literary activities in 1960s and translated several books. He co-published a successful literary periodical entitled Jong-e Isfahan. After revolution he published a controversial book on Persian usage entitled Let's Avoid Mistakes. Throughout his career, Najafi has published over 20 books, among these a dictionary on Persian slang, Elements of general linguistics and its application to the Persian language; in addition he has translated famous french novels to Persian, notable works from J-P Sartre (Le Diable et le bon Dieu, les sequestres d'Altona, Qu'est ce que la literature); works from Andre Malreaux (Antimemoire); works from Albert Camus (Caligula), works from Roger Martin du Gard (Les Thibault), works from Levi-Strauss (La race et l'histoire); works from Antoine St-Exupery (Le petit prince)

Najafi is a member of the Iranian Academy. He is presently writing a book on Persian prose and a Persian/French Dictionary.
