The domain name abc.net.au is the brand name in Australia for the online services of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). An experimental Multimedia Unit was established in 1995, charged with developing policy for the ABC's work in web publishing.[1] This unit continued until 2000, when the New Media division was formed, bringing together the ABC's online output as a division similar to Television or Radio [2].
ABC Online, is one of the Australia largest and most visited web sites (Eleventh most visited according to Alexa on 22 April 2008) [3]. It currently contains over 1.4 million pages [4].
