A Will of their Own is a 1998 romance-drama TV mini- series movie directed by Karen Arthur and produced by Lynn Roth. Susan Richards Shreve wrote the novel before it was turned into a TV movie. Susan Nanus wrote this script, along with Lynn Roth. It stars Lea Thompson as a women's activist Amanda Steward, Thomas Gibson and Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn.
The mini series is about a young woman who goes through life in trying to help women and make them stronger. It starts off in the very late 1800s and ends in the 1980s. It goes through years off hardship and dwell in this woman's life, but yet she manages to pass through and change people. She dreams of being a photographer, but is turned down because she is a woman, but powers over and is succeeds with pride and power. This is truly a great mini- series.
The film debuted on October 18th 1998 on the NBC network to strong critical reviews. It was released to DVD late 2003.
