While some (me) might agree with the first sentence it was not at all NPOV and I removed it. -- 84.146.253.13 08:32, 12 October 2005 (UTC)

wouldn't a tribe called quest be considered abstract hip hop? q-tip refers to himself as the abstract (poet) Scenario, check the rhyme, jazz, bon. applebum, buggin out, and others primarely deal w/ hypothetical and/or conceptual aspects. and abstract is a tough word to operationally define. so what is being use to refer to 'abstract hip hop'?

Person referring to others as 'kids'

isn't a metaphor an abstraction of (relatively subjective) reality? thus, metaphors are abstract. and abstract doesn't always have to represent the selective concentration on certain aspects of reality and/or the concept that is being expressed. the abstract can refer to sensations, emotions, and sometimes even society. thus, abstract : concrete :: femenitity : masculinity hence, the abstract pertains to socio-emotional aspects of one's existence; the concrete is w/ regard to goal-orientation and the physical aspects of one's existence. do you consider a Tribe Called Quest 'abstract hip hop'?

this album is cited as being ill received, how is that possible? it was number one on the charts in the summer of 96! it may have been in the shadow of "all eyez on me" but seriously, it deserves more credit than this.12.129.98.129 01:23, 11 April 2007 (UTC)
