A Gaelic Blessing
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A Gaelic Blessing by John Rutter is an SATB choral piece written as a parting gift for a much-loved choir director. It was commissioned by the choir of 1st United Methodist, Omaha, USA (1978). Due to the gentle nature of both words and melody A Gaelic Blessing has become a popular choice at christenings, weddings and funerals. Sometimes known as 'Deep Peace', this piece became a hit in 2003 when a recording of it by Aled Jones was released.
[edit] Lyrics
- Deep peace of the running wave to you.
- Deep peace of the flowing air to you.
- Deep peace of the quiet earth to you.
- Deep peace of the shining stars to you.
- Deep peace of the gentle night to you;
- moon and stars pour their beaming light on you.
- Deep peace of Christ, the light of the world, to you.
