A Different View is the monthly political magazine of the International Association for Political Science Students (IAPSS). A Different View, also known as ADV, was launched in November 2005. The Editorial Board has released its 18th edition on December 16, 2007.

A Different View deals with a wide range of topics including social, cultural, economic and political affairs. It gives undergraduate and graduate students from around the world the opportunity to give light on the issues that their country faces through the publication of original op-ed articles.
Articles published in ADV are generally between 500 to 3,000 words in length. Recent topics include:
- United Nations reform
- Energy politics in Eastern Europe
- Environmental issues in Bolivia
- Human rights in Turkey
- Conflict in the Middle East
- Asia-Pacific security
- Student rallies in Greece
- The free speech movement in Belarus
- Terrorism in Pakistan
- Piracy in Latin America
- Involuntary disappearance in the Philippines
- Summer Olympics in China
- Morality in U.S. politics
Aside from academic and opinion articles submitted by students, the magazine published certain monthly features:
- PoliBlog: A collection of links and commentary on political affairs gathered by the editorial staff and structured around a central theme from that month's international news.
- IAPSS and Me: An interview with a member of the IAPSS staff. Previous interviews have been conducted with the IAPSS Chaiperson, Regional Coordinators and Editorial Board members of the Association's academic journal, Politkon.
- A Thousand Words: This photo feature traditionally closes the magazine each month and is composed of pictures submitted by IAPSS members worldwide.
Generally, the magazine does not set a particular theme for contributors to comment upon. However, in 2006 two 'Special Issue' editions were published which collected articles around a central theme. The Special Issue themes were 'The Global North and South' (September 2006) and 'Year in Review' (December 2006). It was anticipated that the 'Year in Review' theme will become a regular December feature of the magazine.
[edit] Reformatted Edition
After the 17th Issue on August 2007, ADV did not release editions for September, October, and November. A new Editorial Board composed of one Editor-in-Chief and two Co-Editors was constituted in October 2007. From November to December, the Editorial Board started soliciting manuscripts from political science students all over the world.
The Editorial Board launched a new format beginning with ADV Issue 18 on December 16, 2007. The new format contains the following features:
- Foreword: An essay introducing the topic of the month and the articles that follow. The essay is usually written by the editor in charge of the particular monthly edition.
- Topic of the Month: A collection of selected academic and opinion articles related to the monthly theme, written by undergraduate and graduate students in political science, international relations, and related fields. In December 2007, the theme is human rights (in celebration of the International Human Rights Day held every December 10). For January 2008, the topic is democracy and its benefits.
- Alma Mater: An introduction to a particular group of political science students, or an academic department of political science in a college or university.
- News and Opportunities: A summary of news and opportunities in terms of general assemblies, scholarships, internships, conferences, call for papers, etc. for students of political science, international relations, and related fields.
- About the Authors: Brief biographical accounts of authors who have contributed articles to the monthly edition.

Articles published in ADV are syndicated internationally via the World Student Press Agency. The close cooperation between A Different View and WSPA is a win-win strategy for both organizations and especially for the students who have the chance to make a name for themselves in the field of journalism and policy research.

The magazine is published online each month on the IAPSS website in PDF format. It is distributed to internal IAPSS mailing lists and to the 10,000 IAPSS members worldwide via a link in the monthly IAPSS newsletter.

The founding editor of A Different View was Giselle Quintenla (Argentina). The magazine was re-launched in July 2006 under editor Dylan Kissane (Australia) who passed on the editorship to Thomas Bobinger (Germany) in late 2006.
While nominally under the control of the Editor, the final decision on the content of the magazine rests with the IAPSS Executive Committee and the officer or volunteer responsible for IAPSS public relations.

According to the new policy adopted by the Executive Committee in October 2007, the Editorial Board for IAPSS monthly magazine A Different View will be composed of one Editor-in-Chief and two Co-Editors. The current members of the Board are:
- Editor-in-Chief: Hortenzia Hosszu - Hungary
- Co-Editor : Berekashvili Bakari - Georgia
- Co-Editor: Irma Qehajaj - Albania
Dr. Hortenzia Hosszu is an esteemed professor and academic advisor at the University of Miskolc in Hungary. She assumed the post as Editor-in-Chief of ADV in October 2007.
