[edit] See Also Link to Fake Memoirs

Pelzer's brother and grandmother have accused him of lying, but given the confirmations of his story by teachers and his brother, and that he was taken away by social services, I don't think a link to fake memoirs from this article is really appropriate. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Hannah Angelove (talkcontribs) 04:56, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

Thank goodness, not so severe. he was only abused when other family members were not present. This child is a wonderful young man now.... .

[edit] The Teachers Who Saved David

Thirty years ago, teachers were often reluctant to get involved in child abuse cases. Fortunately, Dave’s former fifth grade teachers, Joyce and Steven, risked their careers to rescue Dave from his living hell. After Steven, Joyce, and other teachers had confronted the principal and administration, Dave had a strong team on his side. The police met him at school one day to take him to a foster care. 209.66.200.64 17:23, 26 April 2007 (UTC)Elizabeth Hernandez 10-28-1991

I think that in cases of child abuse, the abused should look at themselves and consider bettering themselves so that one day when they escape their situations they are able to not make the same mistakes. I would also like to say that it takes alot of courage for people who have been abused to speak out and this courage should be admired and praised it is quite sad when the mistakes of our past are repeated in our future. Dave Pelzer was a survivor of this horrible events, but he was determined to not make the same mistakes with his son and in that his courage lies. This book is a great read and a wonderful oppurtunity for kids to realise how lucky they are to have the things they do. And also a big thank you to those people who help out kids that have been abused. 7 June 2007

[edit] Factuality Disputed

This article makes bold claims but lacks any citations whatsoever. However Pelzer was an amazing man.

Added some disputes; removed "disputed" tag. Softlavender (talk) 20:49, 30 January 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed merge from Catherine Pelzer

The notability concerns about the above article's subject have not been addressed. There are few G-hits for her that are not WP mirrors. The article relies on a single source (a self-identified "alternative newspaper") which may not meet Wikipedia's requirements for a reliable source. The article A Child Called "It" is more balanced and, if it were not for this book, it is doubtful Catherine Pelzer would be notable at all. Anything salvageable in the article can be addressed in a section here. Accurizer (talk) 10:31, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
