[edit] The wording

Certain statements scare me, e.g. "A second program can also swap the Explorer shell with the Windows 95 Explorer, which is less bug-filled, less resource consuming (thereby faster), and completely usable by anyone for any purpose." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 12.217.24.235 (talk • contribs) 20:35, 21 January 2005 (UTC)

Is it the wording or the idea of it all? I'm going to change the words to make it sound more NPOV-ish, If I can. --24.17.43.226 01:13, 15 Feb 2005 (UTC)

[edit] 98lite

98lite originally was lightning fast but had a couple of bugs- however these were bareable as the computer was so fast, now it doesn't produce such a fast computer, although it does do what it says on the packet. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 213.218.210.2 (talk • contribs) 8 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 98EOS

Shane Brooks released too 98EOS, that removes too Printer Subsystem, Audio Subsystem, Network Subsystem, USB Subsystem and GUI, in extremal case leaving command line with large FAT32 and LFN support only.

[edit] Screenshots and extreme minimalization procedure

I added to 98lite article uniquely extreme minimalization procedure discovered, tested and verified by me by using trial and error method, and too two screenshots. I slimmed down Windows ME to such extreme, while keeping it still working, that removing even one file from this set will prevent system from successful bootup and working with LFN-capable DOS programs. I hardly believe that someone will get this extremally minimalized Windows ME below 5 MB, keeping it still in working state, but I warmly welcome trying that. For verifying my procedure, abandonware copy of 98lite Enterprise can be got from here:[1] (I advise mirroring that because it is placed on student's account that will disappear after his teaching period). If someone wants to delete my procedure from article, please rather move it to discussion or Wikibooks than delete only. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.5.66.89 (talk) 19:19, 18 February 2007 (UTC).

The part where Windows Me can be reduced to 205k also applies to MS-DOS bootdisks.83.19.52.107 08:50, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

I don't understand why you would need 98lite to do this extreme minimilization stuff. Doesn't Windows Me come with all the files on the lists?
It is needed in case of GUI minimalization, because of patching some Win95 substitutes of IE-releted files of WinME to make them compatible with WinMe. 83.5.77.158 13:39, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I moved Windows Me minimalization procedures to Wikibooks, while providing links to these procedures in Wikibooks inside main Wikipedia article as follows: Windows Me boot and Windows 2000 boot and added too real DOS 8.00 introducing instructions for full Windows Me.
