Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to make constructive contributions to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Middlewich, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Whatever the external link you added is, it isn't obviously about Middlewich cemetary. If you wish to re-add it, you would need to justify its addition, or, better yet, work it into the main article and use it as a reference (see WP:V, WP:CITE, and WP:References for guidelines about this.) However, I do not believe it is a cemetary site, so you would have to choose the correct to do this if you desired, and it may not be suitable under any circumstances. [edit] Middlewich cemetary
Hi Johnathan, I think you have messaged me in error. If you check the history of the Middlewich article, you will see that I have made only one small change - I certainly didn't change any external links. Also if you look at the vandalism posting here on your talk page, you will see that I had nothing to do with it. Regards Witchwooder (talk) 12:36, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
- First of all, it was me who issued the warning. I am sorry a slip of the finger got the warning wrong: it should have been a warning for WP:LINKSPAM (I'll alter it if you like). Secondly, the correct place to discuss this would be on the talk page of the article: Talk:Middlewich. In that discussion, you will see reasons given why the link is not appropriate for Middlewich and is linkspam. In which case, please either join in the discussion, arguing why you disagree with this, or else please remove the link. Many thanks. DDStretch (talk) 12:40, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Middlewich. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. DDStretch (talk) 17:04, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
