Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia. One or more of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Bryan Ferry, have been considered unhelpful or unconstructive and have been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Please do not change the order in the links section without reason: although the site you promote can be a very good site, it is 'only' a fansite and should not be put in front of official sites such as Manzanera's, IMDB et cetera. If you have a very good reason why your favourite site should be on top of the list, please put that reason on the talk page of Bryan Ferry or/and the talk page of Roxy Music, otherwise please don't change the order. --Pie.er 09:45, 9 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fan page for Bryan Ferry

Please do not add unhelpful and unconstructive content to Wikipedia, as you did to Bryan Ferry. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. Don't put the fansite on top of the list without a reason.--Pie.er 12:11, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Bryan Ferry, you will be blocked from editing. Don't keep putting you fansite on top. And don't just remove sections you don't like. Use the talk page.--Pie.er 08:37, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did to Bryan Ferry, you will be blocked from editing. For the last time: if you can give a reason why your fansite should be on top of the link list, [b]give the reason at the talk page of Bryan Ferry. Until you give a good reason, keep the official pages on top and fan pages below. --Pie.er 12:33, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for blocking

Because you put the fansite on top for the fourth time, without giving a reason, I requested an administrator to block you (see [[1]]. If you think this was not needed, because you have a reason to put the fansite on top of the list, please say it here. If the reason is good enough, the fansite will be on top of the list. If the reason is not so good, we can have a discussion about it. If there is no reason, then why do you keep on doing it??? --Pie.er 14:02, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] www.vivaroxymusic.com

Dear 87.86.194.250. In the Bryan Ferry article, you have put the link to www.vivaroxymusic.com on top for 5 (five!) times now. For 5 (five!) times I have put it back. My reason to put it down, which I have stated before, is that the other references are more informative and authorative, especially Bryan Ferry's own personal website. The www.vivaroxymusic.com page is a great page with great information, as you can see from notes 3, 4, 5, 6, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16 and 18. According to the Wikipedia:Manual of Style (links): "Links not used as sources can be listed in the External links section", so in fact it is even not useful to put the link to www.vivaroxymusic.com in the external links, because it is already present in the references. I would really like to learn what is your reason for putting the link back on top all the time. I tried to get your attention several times:

  • On your talk page here
  • On the talk page of Talk:Bryan Ferry
  • Even in the article itself: I put <!-- Don't put vivaroxymusic.com on top of this list without visiting the talk page --> in the article just above the link to vivaroxymusic, you must have read it!

Now, would you please give a reason why the link should be on top of the list? If you have no reason, I urgently request you to stop putting it back. --Pie.er 13:18, 4 July 2007 (UTC)

I see that you have put vivaroxymusic in second place now. Have you read my comments? You know that you can respond to them, in the same way as you edit other pages? Just press "Edit this page" and respond to my comments. Please give an explanation for the changes you make. If I am wrong and the fanpage should be high on the list of links, explain it! Don't just put it back... --Pie.er 06:45, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

REPLY

I disagree that the official site www.bryanferry.com is the most informative site on Bryan Ferry and his band Roxy Music. There are many fans who would say the same. I know a lot of fans and read many related forums and a lot of them say they don't depend on the official site for up to date information but prefer to use a fan site like www.vivaroxymusic.com or www.roxyrama.com. www.vivaroxymusic.com has more information on everything on Bryan Ferry from photographs, information on albums and solo albums of the main members of Bryan Ferry's band Roxy Music. The site is also used by Bryan Ferry's own web site where they use with a link to more detailed information and lyrics on each song in the Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music albums and singles. Not every release of Bryan Ferry's can be found on www.bryanferry.com but you can find every release of his solo or band and every version with lots of information on each track. There is a page on every credit mentioned on a Bryan ferry and Roxy Music album giving more information about the 600+ names that appear on these albums. There is also an extensive archive on previous tours where as well as a large memorabilia section. Bryan Ferry has also used the webmaster and credited him on a CD, tour book and DVD. That is fairly close to an official endorsement of the quality of the work carried out on www.vivaroxymusic.com. The site has also done exclusive interviews wit members of Bryan ferry's solo band and Roxy Music too. Many of the articles and information on this Wikipedia and associated pages (Roxy Music and solo members)page has come straight from www.vivaroxymusic.com.

In my opinion anyone wanting more information no matter how small or detailed will find it easy on www.vivaroxymusic.com so by pointing them there would be to their advantage. Moste search engines place links based on other computer generated things other than by actualy looking at the sites and by actually looking at and comparing all similar sites www.vivaroxymusic.com is the most comprehensive Bryan Ferry site and is easy to use and find information. The most important thing is that www.vivaroxymusic.com is updated as frequent as information comes available to the point where you can read within 24 hours of a concert what was performed the night before, sometimes that section has been updated within an hour of a show finishing. The site has published tour dates and ticket sales long before the www.bryanferry.com has announced them on many occasions. Like I said before there are many fans who would say the same and a lot of them say they don't depend on the official site for up to date information but prefer to use a fan site like www.vivaroxymusic.com

What I have said is not so much an opinion but facts when you look at the sites and compare them.

I agree that vivaroxymusic is a lot more informative than bryanferry.com. To be honest, only after what you said I really started looking at bryanferry.com and there is not much information indeed. I apologize that I said bryanferry.com was more informative, now I see that it was bad speculation from me.
It's a fact that vivaroxymusic.com has great information. You don't need to convince me about that, we feel exactly the same :)
But the major reason I had for not wanting vivaroxymusic.com on top of the list is because I thought it was 'just another fansite', albeit a fansite with much information. But seeing it on top of the links list of bryanferry.com, and seeing it being used in the lyrics section, I had to change my mind. These two things, that can easily be checked by anyone, make vivaroxymusic.com authorative. Apparantly Bryan Ferry himself saw the page, liked what he saw, and chose to advice it to other persons. That's a reason to put in on top of the list. Thank you for pointing that out to me.--Pie.er 07:28, 14 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bryan Ferry info

By the way, I noticed that you seem to have an interest in Bryan Ferry: on his talk page, there is a todo-list of things that are needed to improve the article. If you want to do these things, or know of another way to improve the article, please feel free to contribute. Maybe you have what it take to give the article the 'good article'-status :) --Pie.er 10:30, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
