No, it's not nonsense. It's fact. Any professional musician knowledgeable in the field of theory will agree that many jazz standards "borrow" musical ideas from Romanticism. 2-5-1, 3-6-2-5-1, 1-6-2-5, etc...The blues is a completely different genre of music, that's what causes controversy amid people who don't know their facts. Uneducated people out there really think blues music is the same as jazz. By all means, African Americans deserve credit for blues music, but not jazz. They did not invent it. I'm not trying to stress racism in this article, just a lack of more information necessary to describe the origin of jazz. To say that jazz was invented in African American communities is misleading. Not even encyclopedias know the origin of jazz and it's because the lack of history recorded during those times of music evolution. You search for "jazz origin" and you will find no distinct answer. The term "African communities" is misleading and should be excluded from this article.
