Look pal, if you want to throw your hat in the ring about how JN:1 is translated, then take a Greek language class. You will quickly find that the NWT is flat WRONG in translating the passage. You will also find the every other translator renders it properly as: "the Word was God" There is no article "o" before "Theos" the article IS before "Logos" which keeps Logos the subject of the sentence, just as it is earlier in the same verse. even if you were to read it directly transliterated (below), you still wont find the idea that the Watchtower wants you to believe that: "the word was A god." Look: " ...and the Word was with the God and God was the Word" Even without an understanding of the rules of Greek grammar, we see that the Word is called God.
