You warned me that I would be banned from editing, unless I stop adding commercial links via the editing facility of Wikipedia. But I really hadn't done something like adding links to pages. Can you please help me with this problem? It is so important, that I can find out, if my computer got hacked or used by some other people when I am away. Thank you! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 85.101.225.42 (talk) 14:30, 23 April 2007 (UTC).
- There is nothing to worry about. Those commercial links were posted fifteen months ago, and your computer is probably not at all related. IP addresses are assigned by internet-service providers, and (depending on your ISP) your IP address might change as frequently as every few minutes or even every time you load a new webpage. Unfortunately, the best way we have of communicating with unregistered users is by identifying them by their IP addresses, so warnings are often received by innocent users. If you would like to be sure to receive any future messages meant for you, you are welcome to register a free account. --TantalumTelluride 21:22, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
| | This is the discussion page for an anonymous user, identified by the user's numerical IP address. Some IP addresses change periodically, and may be shared by several users. If you are an anonymous user, you may create an account or log in to avoid future confusion with other anonymous users. Registering also hides your IP address.
