Hey -- I saw your vote on the Aristasia deletion page. Although I nominated the page for deletion, I would like nothing better than for a good, policy-compliant article to be written on the subject. I looked into the sources you mentioned; I'm afraid that the books by Regina Snow have to be discounted. I can't even find a web page for the publisher (Wildfire Club), and they aren't actually being sold by Amazon, rather, 3rd parties have a couple of used copies for sale.
What I would suggest is, if the article ends up being deleted and you want to try to save it, first, create yourself an account, and then I will be willing to undelete the page and move it into your user space where you can work on it until you think it's ready for prime time. If you want to do this, let me know by leaving a message on my talk page. Mangojuicetalk 05:24, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Got your message. In the future, it helps if you sign your messages on talk pages by adding ~~~~ to the end. Anyway, no, in the end the Aristasia article was deemed to violate verifiability, because despite your attempt, we haven't seen evidence that enough reliable sources exist to even write about the subject. I think it also had subtle and interesting issues of neutrality, too: from the little I've read on the subject, I get the idea that the original Aristasia concept, as invented by Miss Martindale, was one thing, but the Aristasia community has grown somewhat apart from that over time. I saw an interview with Miss Martindale, and she denied that the whole thing had any connection to sex, but it's apparent that the sexual connection has become a more important aspect of this in the online community. Thank you for the link to the Wildfire club; I do think it's questionable to think of that as a reliable source, though, considering it's a publisher that only sells four different books. Anyway, if you want to consult the old article in writing a new one, just let me know. Thanks! Mangojuicetalk 19:50, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
- Well, I suppose that's the reason we need reliable sources here. :) I wouldn't mind if the only reliable sources were somewhat out of date, but this is the trouble one can get into from doing all research based on internet-available non-reliable sources like forums. The misconception may be entirely in my mind... but on the other hand, it may be accurate: are Aristasians, as a whole community, unified enough that different parts don't act in different ways? (Rhetorical question). Anyway, truth be told, I'm not personally all that interested in Aristasia, but I am interested in helping you or anyone else write a good article on it, so let me know if you want to start doing that and I'll be glad to assist.
