Blade Runner - if you disagree with the genre, the place to deal with this is on the article's talk page, not by removing things that you could find out about by following the Wikilink. Thanks. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 20:43, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

I have just done so.79.66.127.218 (talk) 20:49, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. I'm not disagreeing with you, but BR is one of those articles (and films) that everyone has an interpretation of, so sometimes things get a little heated there. However, genre hasn't really been discussed before; perhaps it's about time. --Rodhullandemu (Talk) 21:02, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
Hello. Yes, like many sci-fi related articles, a certain possessiveness exists amongst the die-hard fans that want the article cast their way because they believe themselves to be the ultimate authority on the subject in question. They often like to show their awareness at the expense of the quality of Wikipedia because they use too much terminology that is not widely known outside of fan circles. It's fine for fan sites, but not for an encyclopedia which has to be user friendly and not pre-suppose an extensive knowledge of the subject. Personally, I feel that a Wikilink in the opening sentence to say what "tech noir" is is inappropriate because casual readers shouldn't have to open further pages just to understand something that should have been worded far more simply as "science fiction". Its fine to mention it later on (if its relevant and citable) but not as the opening sentence. 79.66.127.218 (talk) 21:12, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
