Heh, I did it to mock a friend who wants to learn how to do it. I have a lot of respect for wikipedia (the speed at which you reverted is an example of why) and intended to edit it as soon as he'd read it (linked him on MSN). You beat me to it. :(
EDIT: Sorry, you didn't experience it. No such thing. 78.148.102.35 12:13, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah I did; it was fine. El_C 12:11, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
My apologies, the friend I mentioned reminded me of the existence of ecstasy and other such drugs. I retract my statement. 78.148.102.35 12:13, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, even without drugs. Several times a week; although more potent manifestations of it are infrequent (creating anything whatsoever). El_C 12:16, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
I guess I'm too much of a skeptic. That probably has something to do with the fact that if I could control dreams, I'd deliberately knock myself into a coma. :D 78.148.102.35 12:18, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- It varies a lot. Not every time I realize I am dreaming I get the same power to do something about it. I may get a low-end lucid dream once a week where I can do some limited things, but only once every couple of months do I get the one where I intentionally create mountains and forests and valleys to fly through. It those ones, however, which rock my world! El_C 12:26, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
You... you have omnipotence in these dreams, but you use it to create instead of destroy? No taking over the dream-world?! 78.148.102.35 12:37, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
- No, you see, once you realize that, for lack of a better word, the stage play that is the dream is but a dream, then who really cares about participating in it anymore, you want to get the most out of it by flying around through nice scenery and shit. But, again, this is in the highest form of lucidity, where I virtually enjoy as much conscious thought as in waking time. El_C 13:27, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
So you can't choose to dream about, for example, Star Wars? Like, could you dream of being Palpatine trying to take of the galaxy?
- Sure, sometimes I go for the space ones, but I really prefer something like Kathmandu valley (which to say, huge mountains, and valleys, and lakes) and so on above all over other locations and location types. As for adding a storyline/persona, that's one way to lose the lucid state and become immersed in the dream again, but again, once you find yourself in this state, what you really want is superHD audiovisual experience: you want to enjoy it, and only it, to utmost, and every second counts, as the lucid state is elusively ephemeral. - Also I should add that flying through outer space is much more difficult to control, too, by a factor of ten, probably. I just removed some self-promotional link from Astral projection which reminded me how long it's been since I had a decent one. I have stories about that! El_C 22:33, 4 November 2007 (UTC)
Sounds interesting. Even if you couldn't control the events if you attempt to follow a storyline, being able to decide what to dream about would be great. Ah, the possibilities. I could build an empire every night. :D —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.148.107.152 (talk) 03:40, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
- What I'm getting at is that you can somewhat create and control a storyline, but it is way more fun to fly around like an idiot for a while! El_C 04:47, 5 November 2007 (UTC)
