[edit] Emo
Hello, FYI, I am a former punk rocker and I also dislike emo, but I would like to inform you that your ideas about emo are based on stereotypes of the current form of emo that exists in pop music. In the past, when "emo" first began being used, emo referred to a style of hardcore punk that had more "emotional" and personal lyrics than traditional hardcore punk. Emo originally meant nothing more than "emotional hardcore." This was a stupid label, many admit, because all hardcore (and all punk rock) is very emotional music, but the term emo simply referred to the more personal content of the lyrics. Since then, emo has changed dramatically and has become a complete joke. I know where you are coming from and how you feel, but you need to know the history and understand that--as much as emo sucks now--it came from good roots. I'm sorry, but it's true.
