"Why does opinion not belong in an article when it is unanimously accepted? He is recognized as the best footballer of all time, it's a fact. Would it be better if it said something like, "Widely considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time", like on Michael Jordan's page?" No it does not. Any subjective, generalistic opinion, like applying superlatives as "best" must be cited or properly sourced. Between you and me, I am old enough to have seen Pelé play. I also saw Cruyff, Maradona and Messi. I might tend to agree with Pelé being the best I've seen, but that is still opinion, unless I can show proper citations by reputable sports journalists, for example.
