[edit] More on massive range block
Overall, I don't see the efficiency of blocking 76.203.*.* for 2+ months. That's basically the entire SBC DSL network. If there really was a user so problematic that it was worthwhile to do that, that's just kind of sad. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.203.4.84 (talk • contribs)
- While I find it suspicious that you've asked for unblock within a few hours of the first block, I will go ahead and contact the blocking checkuser. The Evil Spartan (talk) 02:09, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
- Hi there. I'm the admin who placed the above rangeblock. I'm really sorry about the inconvenience but unfortunately, it was necessary to prevent a banned editor from abusing Wikipedia. Without going into the details, yes, this user was problematic in the extreme - so much so, in fact, that we've had to apply four similar rangeblocks on other networks. It's not simply vandalism. For this reason, I'm really sorry but I cannot lift the rangeblock at this time. However, what we can do is create an account for you which should allow you to log in, thus bypassing the block. If you like, choose a username that's not in this list, thensend an email to "unblock-en-l@lists.wikimedia.org" quoting my message and your chosen username. This should get you editing! - Anon here again. Thanks for the explanation, Alison. At this time, I'm not interested in membership. All I wanted to do was add a bit on Superior (band)'s talk page that there's more than one well-known Superior (track 11), and perhaps further disambiguation would be useful. It's not worth the trouble. The Evil Spartan, thank you as well for the petition, even though your concerns, again, make me sad. Goodbye/good luck to you both.
