Welcome to Wikipedia. We invite everyone to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. / Mats Halldin (talk) 21:39, 15 July 2007 (UTC) Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. Wikipedia is not a mere directory of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam policy for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, then please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Burlywood 16:43, 4 September 2007 (UTC)

Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, additions of links to Wikipedia will not alter search engine rankings. If you continue spamming, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. [edit] Your spam link removal update for today!

You'll be pleased to know that all the spam you added today to the External Links sections of the articles Mammal, Wilderness, Amphibian, Turtle, and Extinction has been removed. If you haven't already noticed, every time you add one of these spam links, someone reverts them, and then checks your contribution history to see where else you've been spamming. It's therefore easy to undo your spamming. So please stop. You're wasting your time and ours for no tangible return. Cheers, Neale Monks 08:54, 26 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Blacklisted from all 700+ Wikimedia wikis plus thousands of others

Well, you should have made a better effort to work within Wikipedia's framework of guidelines and consensus editing.

As you've found, we're truly defenseless against a determined linking campaign such as yours. We can huff and puff, but when all is said and done, we rely on goodwill and consensus.

So we have one tool that works when nothing else does. That's the Wikimedia spam blacklist. It takes a lot of persistence to get listed, but you've made the cut:

Once blacklisted, links to a listed domain are filtered by our servers' MediaWiki software and it becomes impossible to edit any page that these links appear on. The Wikimedia blacklist applies to all Wikimedia wikis (Wikipedia, Wiktionary, Wikispecies, etc) in all languages (English, German, Welsh, Indonesian, etc.). All Wikia wikis as well as thousands of unrelated wikis that also run on the same MediaWiki software also incorporate our list in their own filtering. --A. B. (talk) 18:01, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
