[edit] Buy It Downtown
If there's a ChattanoogaWiki, it would definitely be suitable for such a project. But on a global basis, this is just another local downtown improvement project (and I suspect you are wrong about the "revolutionary" nature of the gift card concept). If it ever starts getting attention from the national or international press, that would be different; but the English-language Wikipedia is a planetary project, and we can't have an article on every well-intentioned local, state or even national initiative. No offense to the fine folks of Chattanooga (I'll be there in January myself, for Chattacon, as I am every year). --Orange Mike | Talk 16:02, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Notability
Benwood is only notable, in my opinion, because of the pivotal role in played in a major U.S. tax case; and that's a feeble claim, but a real one. Lyndhurst's only claim to notability is that it was the first private foundation in Tennessee. That's a frail reed to lean on, and I've nominated it for deletion.
It should be noted that anybody is welcome to make nominations for deletion, just as they are welcome to edit articles and create new ones. From that point on, it's the responsibility of the Wikipedia community as a whole to do the winnowing and sifting. But the existence of bad or non-notable articles does not justify the creation of new ones; that is known as WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS, and is one of the list of statements not considered a valid argument against deletion of an inappropriate article.--Orange Mike | Talk 19:28, 21 December 2007 (UTC)
