[edit] Concerning Edits

All contributions are appreciated and strongly encouraged, but your recent edit to the userpage of another user may be considered vandalism. Specifically, your edit to User:Validusername may be offensive or unwelcome. In case you are the user, please login under that account and proceed to make the changes. Please use the sandbox for any tests you may want to do, particularly to userpages. Take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thank you. -Mschel 01:49, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

For the record, all edits to my userpage have thus far been welcome. Validusername 02:03, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Please stop vandalizing

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, you will be blocked from editing. —Pilotguy cleared for takeoff 01:23, 15 April 2007 (UTC)

Pardon? That's too vague to follow. Please point out any edits I have made that you consider vandalism. If I've broken a rule, please let me know which so I can avoid doing it again the future. I'm happy to discuss this. 74.134.255.99 01:36, 15 April 2007 (UTC)
Aha, I did a bit of research of my own (due to Pilotguy's silence), and I hadn't realized that blanking one's own userpage was considered vandalism. I'd have appreciated a more specific warning, but I'll assume good faith here. Lesson learned. 74.134.255.99 22:01, 16 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome

Welcome

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Here are some other hints and tips:

  • I would recommend that you get a username. You don't have to log in to read or edit articles on Wikipedia, but creating an account is quick, free and non-intrusive, requires no personal information, and there are many benefits of having a username. (If you edit without a username, your IP address is used to identify you instead.)
  • When using talk pages, please sign your name at the end of your messages by typing four tildes (~~~~). This will automatically produce your username (or IP address) and the date.

If you have any questions, check out Wikipedia:Where to ask a question, ask me on my Talk page, or type {{helpme}} on this talk page and a user will help you as soon as possible. I will answer your questions as far as I can. Again, welcome, and I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian. --Haemo 06:31, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Too much trivia?

I'm not sure its a good idea to go through dozens of articles, cutting down the trivia and adding the "too much trivia" template without discussing any of your changes on the respective article's talk pages. Please stop and discuss things first.

Atlant 11:28, 26 April 2007 (UTC)

I'm not sure it's a bad idea, though I'm always willing to discuss my changes. I am trying to follow these steps when I make changes to or remove/merge/adapt either useful or superfluous trivia. 74.134.255.99 02:57, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] April 2007

Please do not introduce any form of vandalism to the userpages of other users, as you did to User:Validusername. Thank you. Sr13 (T|C) ER 08:53, 30 April 2007 (UTC)

If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.
Alas, what would Wikipedia be without irrelevant warnings? 74.134.255.99 09:00, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
If these warnings are irrelevant then get an acount! -Mschel 11:50, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
And miss out on the fascinating life and times of being a lowly IP? The vague and intimidating talk page warnings often with little or no follow-up are just too curious to pass up. And since that can be misinterpreted, I'll say clearly that I'm not trying to provoke warnings. From an academic standpoint, I'm understanding how a user without an account can be intimidated by the site, even while making (in my opinion) constructive, "in good faith" edits. 74.134.255.99 20:57, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
Upon re-reading my talk page, I should point out that neither the nearest above message nor the majority of messages I have received have been vague or very intimidating. In fact, one could argue that the majority aren't even "warnings." I'm more accustomed to reading the talk pages of other users sans (or even those with!) accounts in which vague warnings are practically littered between every other post. I'm hardly as repressed as I may have implied above! 74.134.255.99 21:05, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
