[edit] March 2008

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Jameel Sewell, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources, please take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 16:49, 14 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, since Sewell isn't coming back for the 2008, as cited in your article, it is not possible for him to be the incumbant at quarterback is it? And since it's common knowledge that Lalich will likely be the starter next year I figured I would help inform the public.

However, even if I were to cite it, how would I? The fact that Marques Hagans preceded Sewell isn't cited either. Should that be deleed as well?

There is no official word that Lalich is the next starting quarterback. Therefore it is not going to be put on the page. The Hagans citation is on his own page. Sewell's page does not say that Sewell is the incumbant... it says that his tenure ended in 2008. He is suceeded by "incumbant" which means "the next person". Thanks for adding things to the Lalich article and making it flow better. However, I did add a "citation needed" template to the thing that says that Lalich is favored to be the next starter. However, even that is iffy, and if'n an admin saw that, they would remove it as per WP:CRYSTALBALL. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 16:58, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I'm assuming you're pretty familiar with UVA, student or recent graduate I'm guessing. I think the fact that Lalich played in 7 of the 12 games and was the team's back up from game 2 onward is enough of an indicator that were the number one guy lost, he would then become the number one guy. As the number two guy, that's kind of how it works is it not? That's just intuition.
If you're going to make it all perfect then I guess it can wait till the spring depth chart gets released.
and PS: Incumbant doesn't mean who is next. I would hope that someone at UVA would know better. The incumbant is the person currently in the position. To say that the incumbant is the next quarterback implies that the quarterback is returning. I'll cite this very website: "The incumbent... is the current holder of an...office. This term is usually used in reference to elections, in which races can often be defined as being between an incumbent and non-incumbent. For example, in the 2004 United States presidential election, George W. Bush was the incumbent, because he was the president in the current term while the election sought to determine the president for the following term."
Dont worry babe... it wont be too long. And its not so much me as its wiki policy, and the right thing to do (to wait for official word). Yes, I understand that, of course, had Sewell taken a foot to the head early on, Lalich woulda been our only hope... but to jump the gun and immediately say that he's the new starter is just not kosher. Also, who knows... maybe this Wiz Kid Rico wins Grohl's heart? Anyway, IMO, we're better off without Sewell... he took a wonderful opportunity to learn at a prestigious school, and threw it in our faces. And yes, I am an alumnumnumnum. Also, no need to be snarky. And no personal attacks re: the meaning of incumbant and my education/smarts. Queerbubbles | Leave me Some Love 17:12, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
No snarkiness, just correcting you. Nothing personal
there's an article that states Lalich should be the starter this season if you're interested  ;-P
