[edit] Hair Loss
Does potassium deficiency cause hair loss. I am going through chemo which shouldn't be causing hair loss, but am losing some, not all. Thought maybe due to my postassium deficiency?
I see alot of hypokalemia, and I'm pretty sure that there's no relationship here. My guess is that you are being given cisplatin or carbiplatin for chemo, which does not typically cause hair loss. But some people do lose their hair with it. If this is the case, you should make sure that your docs are also checking your magnesium, because hypokalemia is difficult to fix when the magnesium is low. Unfortunately, fixing even serious electrolyte problems is unlikely to do anything for your hair loss. -DL
