User talk:71.96.241.173

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Attention:

This IP address, 71.96.241.173, is part of a pool of dynamically allocated addresses and is registered to the following organization Verizon Communications. Applying an indefinite block to this IP is not appropriate, unless it is a soft block, because the IP address will later be reallocated to a different, unrelated, and unsuspecting user, thereby impairing access to Wikipedia in an inappropriate fashion. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking. In the event of vandalism from this address, efforts can be made to contact Verizon Communications to report abuse.

The best approach is to determine the CIDR IP numerical address range and make a higher-level decision to soft-block the entire range. http://www.arin.net/ (for approximately North America) and related sites can help to identify that range. Caution is advised when applying a range block as other Wikipedians, both registered and otherwise, may be affected.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking - if a block is needed, administrators should consider using a soft block with the template {{anonblock|optional comment}} as the block reason.

Verizon sucks, so stop changing it! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.96.241.173 (talkcontribs) 12:13, 30 July 2007

Whether or not they suck, this IP address is registered to them. Since I added the header you've removed it once, and changed it several times to say that it's AOL, Cingular and TXU. You've also added a header to say that you're blocked when you're not. Please stop changing these headers to include false information - it could be viewed as vandalism. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:22, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

They suck, ok?Just leave there, ok? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 71.96.241.173 (talkcontribs) 12:24, 30 July 2007.

I'm not going to leave this page with incorrect information on it. This IP address is registered to Verizon, so that's what this page needs to say. Changing pages so that they have false information on them is vandalism, and may lead to a block. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:28, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Can you keep a secret?Verizon mistreats me, so I don't want to see their name!

I stand by what I said above. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:33, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

Please stop making test edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Sonya Walger. It is considered vandalism, which, under Wikipedia policy, can lead to blocking of editing privileges. If you would like to experiment again, please use the sandbox. --HughCharlesParker (talk - contribs) 12:33, 30 July 2007 (UTC)
