The link I am adding is not a commercial site and while the poety on my site was written by me, it is free to the public and therefore not private. Please allow my external link to stay. -Troy Dunn

It doesn't fit the standards of Wikipedia. As noted above, the anti-spam policy does not only speak against commercial links, but also when you insert links to promote yourself. Please don't. --Nlu (talk) 06:06, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
What if the poem was added to the page with or without a credit to me? - Troy Dunn
That's not the point. The poem does not add to the value of an encyclopedic article about enlightenment, and therefore is improper as an external link from the Enlightenment (concept) article. Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a blog. --Nlu (talk) 06:11, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
Just another thought; while some others might still frown on it, if you were a registered user and put the poem on your user page, I don't think I would object to that. But it doesn't belong in an encyclopedia article. --Nlu (talk) 06:12, 11 February 2006 (UTC)
I'm sorry that you feel that way. I hope that others have a differnt view. I don't have the time but I'm sure that I could site many other articles on this site with a poem, referencing the context, in them. - Troy Dunn
