I removed it according to WP:EL#Links normally to be avoided where it says blogs shouldn't be added. I personally think that blogs should be permitted as long as they're useful to the article but unfortunately I don't make the policies so I do have to follow them. I have gone ahead though and cleaned out the external links section as you suggested, there were a lot of links that shouldn't have been there.
