[edit] Lack of Asian diversity in the TV shows is the real fact! don't deny the truth.

It doesn't matter how many times you say it, just because Kal Penn isn't Oriental doesn't mean he's not Asian. I'd feel bad for him if he came across that part of the article that claimed he wasn't Asian. --Vinnyvinny2 22:09, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

i don't know who he is, and he is NOT on the casting list, don't call any asian person as "oriental!"

Not yet, but spoilers have already been released sating that he, Olivia Wilde, and one other dude whose name escapes me will join the cast as House's new team. --Vinnyvinny2 22:17, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

an Irish-American actress.? you call her asian?

I didn't say she was asian. I'm just saying that she, Kal Penn, and Peter Jacobson are joining the cast very soon. Kal is still Asian. --Vinnyvinny2 22:20, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

you can tell me that one day, an asian will be the president of the US, that doesn't change the lack of Asian diversity fact right now! --71.156.47.81 22:21, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

I just gave you Kal Penn. Apparently one Asian (Sandra Oh) is good enough for Grey's Anatomy. Why isn't Kal good enough? --Vinnyvinny2 22:23, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

is he on the show now? i don't think so.

He plays Dr. Lawrence Kutner. If you actually watched the show, you would see he is one of seven doctors on House's shortlist for potential new fellows. Spoilers have revealed that he along with "Thirteen" and Dr. Chris Taub are going to win and be added to the main cast. --Vinnyvinny2 22:25, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

is he on the casting list on house page now? i don't think so. and why did they hire someone from australia? is it because Asians in the USA can't act?!

Your gripe is that they haven't updated the cast list on the website (before his character becomes officially part of the team)? This doesn't seem petty to you? Docta247 22:36, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

oh, i should be happy because the future is close? should i also be happy that one day an Asian will be the president of the US?

Using a different IP to troll us is pathetic. Please stop. Kal Penn is very Asian and a male! He has been on every single episode since season 4. mirageinred 22:41, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

who are us? who voted you to reprsent "us?" and now you admit that there was zero Asian in this show since season 1 till season 4. and kal penn is still minor role, because his name is not listed on the cast. second, http://www.apamsa.org/home/resources/apia_statistics.php#8, Asian doctors are 8% among all physicians, it is evident that house is lack of asian diversity. period.--71.156.47.81 23:04, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

So what if there were no Asian in season 1 through 3. That doesn't make Kal any less of an Asian, and since the article is about the present day and Kal in on the show right now recurringly although he has appeared in all episodes so far, your argument about seasons 1-3 is pointless. --Vinnyvinny2 23:06, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
However the real fact is your claim or "fact" will not have a source. Your edit will be reverted over and over again, as I have said. And House is already semi-protected. If you continue your edits onto other articles, they will be protected from anonymous editors as well. mirageinred 23:09, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

http://www.apamsa.org/home/resources/apia_statistics.php#8, can you NOT read? asians are 8%, blacks are 2%, they should have hired 4 asians before they hired 1 black. and you must be kidding to tell me that kal penn has appeared on every show, how many minutes, huh? And what is the reason for them to hire someone all the way from australia? you can protect, you can send me to jail, I shall still be the Rosa Parks on this board, and I didn't even violate any racist laws. I am only adding the fact.

The problem is that something like that qualifies as trivia. There isn't enough space on the article to add every single fact and whose to say what fact is more important than another? --Vinnyvinny2 23:18, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

the problem is that you just delete anything you don't like, casting is trivia to you? maybe you should not edit any articles

If I were to add that, then I would have to add something about the lack off Hispanics, Native Americans, Canadians, Pacific Islanders, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Redheads, people with mullets, paraplegics, little people, Immigrants, people in the lower class, rich people, aristocrats, etc. All of this can not fit into one article normally. --Vinnyvinny2 23:22, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

for your information, pacific islanders are asians, too. it is a shame that you are so insensitive when it comes to race issues. Second, as i have stated there are 8% real Asian physicians in the year of 2002, so asking a show to be more racial diverse is perfect.

But this isn't the place to ask it. This is an encyclopedia. --Vinnyvinny2 23:26, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

exactly, deleting real fact is also wrong. there is zero asian male actors in those physician show is the real life fact. it MUST be added to the articles.

It's hard to tell if I'm talking to the same person if you don't sign your comments. As I have already said, encyclopedias are neutral. Mentioning only the lack of Asian with be bias towards Asians. --Vinnyvinny2 23:29, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
Perhaps reading Wikipedia:Five pillars will help you understand what Wikipedia is. mirageinred 23:31, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

really, then you should delete rossa parks' article, obviously it is not neutral, and it is bias toward white racists, right.

Sure it's neutral. I documents her ideals, what she did, and all the things that happened because of what she did. It's all neutral facts. --Vinnyvinny2 23:33, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

and I documented zero time Asian has appeared in the shows, and that is also a neutral fact.

Yes, but it's biased because it only mentions one race. There are other races, religions, and lifestyles that have not been featured on the show. In order to be neutral, you would have to include them all. --Vinnyvinny2 23:37, 18 October 2007 (UTC)

then rossa parks article is also biased, because it doesn't list white racists opinions and ideas. second, there are plenty white, black doctors in the shows, therefore, there is no need to mention them again because they are already listed as in the casting list

If you can find some white racist's opinions against Rosa Parks with legitimate sources and not some blog, then feel free to add it. --Vinnyvinny2 23:43, 18 October 2007 (UTC)
I find 71.156.47.81's comments incredibly insensative to non-Mongaloid Asians. Kal Penn, an actor of Indian descent and fairly regular re-curring cast member on the show, apparently does not count as an Asian. How racist.--Dr who1975 01:46, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
Rosa Parks was a person! She was part of a movement. There is plenty of criticism of civil rights initiatives on wikipedia. Just look at the page for Affirmative action.--Dr who1975 15:07, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia principles

Before continuing to edit here, you need to understand two important Wikipedia principles: Verifiability and Reliable sources. Verifiability means that any reader should be able to verify whether the facts in the article are true. Since we can't ask readers to review every episode of House or ER to see how many Asian actors there are playing doctors, we need to point the reader to a source which discusses that issue. And that source has to be reliable — that is, not just an anonymous person who says "I watch the shows".

If you can find any Asian-American organization which has protested the casting practices of these shows, or even commented on it, then the information can be added to the articles. But without a reliable source, the information will be reverted. This is not because editors are racist — it is because editors are trying to maintain Wikipedia principles. If you continue to edit war, the articles will remain protected. But if you can find reliable sources for the information you wish to add, and can discuss the issue in a civil manner with other editors, then it can be added. Please stop fighting and start listening. —Josiah Rowe (talkcontribs) 02:59, 19 October 2007 (UTC)
