[edit] June 2007
Welcome to Wikipedia. Although we invite everyone to contribute constructively to our encyclopedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Facial (sex act), was not constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you.--Tλε Rαnδom Eδιτor (ταlκ) 23:15, 24 June 2007 (UTC)
- If this is a shared IP address, and you didn't make any unconstructive edits, consider creating an account for yourself so you can avoid further irrelevant warnings.
Your recent edit to Saw III (diff) was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to recognize and repair vandalism to Wikipedia articles. If the bot reverted a legitimate edit, please accept my humble creator's apologies – if you bring it to the attention of the bot's owner, we may be able to improve its behavior. Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did to Hannibal. Your edits appear to be vandalism and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Thank you. A link to the edit I have reverted can be found here: link. If you believe this edit should not have been reverted, please contact me. P.B. Pilhet 01:58, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- Also, please refrain from making innappropriate racially-related comments, like you did in the edit summary of Hannibal. Thanks. -- P.B. Pilhet 02:00, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Vandal Patrolling
Vandal patrolling is relatively simple to do, and there's different types of it as well. First, before you start, you should create an account. Not only does this give extra privacy (it conceals your IP address), but it will help keep your edits from being identified as vandalism (because IP's are often looked at a little more suspiciously than logged-in users). Creating an account is free and only takes a minute or two. Also before you start, you should be familiar with Wikipedia's policies towards vandalism. Therefore, you should read these few pages first:
- Wikipedia:Civility
- Wikipedia:Vandalism
- Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not
- Wikipedia:Do not bite the newcomers
- Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion
- Wikipedia:Deletion policy
There are several other pages as well, but these are some of the "core" ones. Now that you understand most of our policies, you can choose from two different types of vandal patrolling:
- Newpage Patrol
- Recent Changes Patrol
I would recommend newpage patrol first, because RC Patrol is more complicated. Read through this page first (it has patrolling instructions), and then you can begin. All you do in newpage patrol is "tag" newly created articles for deletion if they do not meet Wikipedia's policies (ex., an article about a non-notable person should be tagged for deletion). After you tag the article, you can welcome/warn the article's creator and tell him/her why you don't believe his article should be allowed here (of course, you must do this civilly). If you're still interested in Vandal Patrol (I hope I didn't scare you off with all this :-]), just leave me a note on my talk page and I'l give you more info. Happy editing, and God bless! -- P.B.
